I had a CBC along with numerous other blood tests done on friday at around 12 am. If my CBC came back abnormal, when would they notify me?
Answer:
It depends on your area. Currently I have a "high risk" pregnancy and go for blood work once a week, where I am, the labs are open Monday to Saturday. Different labs have different times, but it will range from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. The antenatal home care nurses who take care of me will have the lab results within 24 hours. If they call to get it, they can have it within 3 hours. Otherwise, someone from the lab or the doc's office are suppose to call within 3 business days either way.
In my home town, labs are open from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Unless there is a reason for a rush, your doctor's office sets up a follow up appointment when you get your req for the blood work. They won't call you before that.
So it depends. Generally, a week is the MAXIMUM I'd expect anyone to wait, anywhere for the results of blood work. However, if there is a problem, many places have a policy to NOT tell you over the phone. Good Luck!
You have aids, I'm so sorry.
I dunno, I got tested for HIV before and never went back for results. Nobody ever called me so I figured i'm fine.
depends what you mean by abnormal
if its abnormal they will notify you as soon as they get the test results back.. ! To do someother test.. But if its normal and you dont hear from them soon that means its normal and they will just send you a letter telling you everything is ok.. !
that usually depends on what test was off a CBC usually results are back within a hour from being drawn, if something was off significantly you will probably be notified on monday
12am, were u in the ER ? If so, u get the results there. If u mean u had it done Fri at noon, u should have the results on Monday. It really depends where u had the blood work done as to how fast u get the results. If the results r abnormal, the doctor will notify u ASAP. Ur doctor probably is not in his office over the weekend.
Normally, you will go to the doctor that ordered the tests, to get the results, the interpretations, and any course of action necessary because of the tests.
its according to the population of your area and how far away your sample had to go for testing, some large cities work 24/7 but still usually a week for test answers which are not immediate life or death. i have to have blood work before every doctors appointment, i go in a week ahead to have it drawn. im diabetic which is the main reason they keep such a close eye on mine.
The lab wont notify you, and sometimes the people who work in the doctors office dont contact you either. Be sure that YOU contact them and follow up on all your work!
