Breathing Problems?

My huband has been having some breathing issues. When he is asleep I frequently have to SHAKE him to wake him up (somewhat) so that he starts breathing normally again. Also, if I am asleep then he will wake up gasping for air! This scares the crap out of me!! Also, he has been somewhat lightheaded and dizzy. He feels worn down and tired a lot too. He says that he just doesnt feel "right!" He IS a smoker (I know.. I dont need preaching about telling him to quit!) and he works in heat and air so he's been exposed to things like asbestos and fiberglass entering his lungs. He doesnt really have a problem getting a "good" breath though.. just feeling dizzy (like I said). And OF COURSE being a "man" he doesnt want to go to the doctor unless its ABSOLUTELY necessary (and I cant really FORCE him to go, ya know!?) Plus we dont have health insurance b/c we simply cant afford it! I was just wondering if anyone might have a CLUE as to what might be going on!
Answer:
It could still be sleep apnea. It could also be asthma or emphysema. (or other things). If it's asthma he'll probably get an inhaler that is just wonderful when you're having trouble breathing.

Look for a clinic that treats people without health insurance, even if it's a clinic for low income people. Most places have some kind of free health care for people without health insurance. it's just a matter of looking for it. Try a county hospital clinic. If you still cannot find any place that will take him for free then go to a doctor and tell them up front that you don't have insurance and couldn't afford a large bill and then tell him your husband's symptoms. Most will do what they can for the smallest amount of money or refer you to someone who charges according to income.

With him being run down, it could be so many things and some things get worse if they're not treated as early as possible. Try telling your husband that he's only got one set of lungs and there's no more where that came from. If that doesn't work, jokingly tell him he'll be sleeping on the couch until he sees a doctor!
Sleep apnea can cause problems when one is awake. Feeling esp. tired during the day is one of the main symptoms. Definatly something isn't right, I would certainly try to get him to go to the doc.

Breath shortness?

sometimes i have problems taking deep breaths that i feel like i need and i have to sit and keep on trying to take a deep breath like my breathing aint stopped i just feel a little short of breathe what would cause this
19yearold
Answer:
This could be asthma or allergies with asthma-like symptoms. I have allergies and have trouble taking deep breaths because of them. Go to your doctor and have him or her listen to your breathing. Do you wheeze? How long has his been going on for? Do you smoke? I use Advair daily to help with my shallow breathing and Albuterol if I really can't breathe.
get checked for asthma!

Breast lift?

I am over 40, my breast sag but I can't afford cosmetic surgery. What can I do to lift them naturally beside a bra?
Answer:
I honestly don't know of anything else besides a bra, however, I noticed in my health benefits package that there are providers that perform this at an affordable discount. If that's something you're considering you can see if they have any near you http://www.youdeservehealthcare.com...
Hold them with your hands? lol
I think a bra would be the only way to lift them without surgery. I don't think any creams or pills actually work.
Maybe lots of pushups may make the muscle underneath a littler perkier?
If you have back pain you could get a breast reduction with a breast lift covered by your insurance.

A bra is the only way to go non surgically.

Breast Implant question! please help!?

so...everything looked really good after my operation and up until about 2 weeks ago. Its been like 3 months. Anyways, I started to work out again like 2 or 3 weeks ago. And I would jog long distances. And ever since then I have developed stretch marks on both of my breasts! Do you have any idea why? Can I never jog again? I am only a size b so its not like they are really big, I just need some advice or insight from someone
Answer:
stretch marks are tiny tears in the deep layer of skin. You have to wear a support or sports bra, so your breasts won't be bouncing up and down, making those tears easier. Remeber that even if your implants are not big, your skin is already stretched from them, and the least you want to do is subject it to more trauma by not wearing a bra with good support.
As for the stretchmarks, go buy vitamin E oil capsules, cut one's tip off and rub the oil every day after bath for about 6 weeks, This should help improve their appearance.
my sister had implants done and she went from an A to a B, she was told to ALWAYS wear a bra, that support was necessary.

so maybe that is the problem for you? if you aren't wearing a bra of some sort? even a sports bra, but you need to have support.

sorry i can't be of more help to you.
oops..looks like your surgeon forgot to tell you that could happen...especially if you were really small...skin is like elastic when it stretches too fast it pulls and causes stretch marks. If they are new...you could have laser surgery to help.

Breast augmentation help..?

well I got my girl half a boob job (dumb broad couldn't wait for the rest of the money to complete it) because thats all I could afford at the moment but how do I tell her she looks kinda funny with one really big boob and one small one.when she's out in public she stuffs the one side of her bra so it looks normal but in the bed room it looks like she's got Rocky Balboa's speed bag stapled to her chest.
Answer:
If this is a serious question, then you need to go on Jerry Springer.
That is mad - who can believe such a dumb thing.
Nice!
lol...are you for real. I didnt think doctor did that.
No doctor would do that. Make up something that's actually believable.
yes this can happen to some.
silicon pad bellow the breast by some plastic surgeon is the answer.
No one believes this ridiculous question. No surgeon would do that because they would still charge you the same price- you actually dont pay for the implants, you pay for the Plastic Surgeons service. That means that you would be paying double everything.
For example, last week I had a Breast Reduction. If I only had one boob done, then I would still be paying my surgeon, the hospital fee, theatre cost, assistant surgeon, anaesthetist, etc. So I would have paid AU $11,000 twice. Just as you would be doing if your story was true

Brand new pair of sneakers make my feet stink already, why is that? (wear them without socks)?

I put on a brand new pair of Etnies Sneakers, the other day and wore them without socks since I don't like wearing socks. They are VERY comfy sneakers to wear without socks, and I really like them. When I took them off that night, they stunk right away, and normally it takes about 6 months before my sneakers start to stink. What causes them to stink right away. Were the sneakers defective? Or is it the material the sneakers are made of to make my feet stink so soon.
Answer:
You need socks to help wisk away the sweat and moisture. Without socks there is no place for the moisture to go and your feet and shoes will start smelling.

Brain Imaging - Brain Spects/Scans?

What's your view on this type of diagnostic procedure. Visit www.amenclinic.com or brainplace.com for details.

Would you reccomend or consider this an accurate form of diagnostic procedure?
Answer:
it's an excellent form of diagnostic procedure, and if you live in a place where you have access to such equipment, you're lucky.
Brain imaging can pick up many things that would otherwise never be known, for example, the presence of tumors, size and location of lesions, overall brain response activity, abnormal brain development, location of brain damage or injury, and other things.
Brain imaging takes the guesswork out of a lot of neuroscience. I don't want to go so far as to call it a miracle, but it sure is a great medical advance.

Bowel infection? or what?

Haha, i'm 15. For the past 2 weeks ive been feeling fatique, irritible, like mind foggy just a little bit and constipated. Well today i took some milk of magnesia and ate a salad and chicken sandwhich from burker king with medium fries. After about 20 mins later i started getting cramps and then finally when and had a bowel movement. It came out like water and i dont know if it was dark green or like black? i couldnt tell, i dont think its blood. There was like some seeds in it from the bun i ate and like the fries lol. Ive had a headache for about 5 hours. But that was before i had a bowel movement and i was getting hot and cold spells. But i feel okay now just my head is pounding. I think its good that i went after all my stool was hard, and light brown. Maybe im finally getting cleaned out? from a stomach virus? hmmmm I also have a doctors appointment tuesday.
Answer:
I'm not sure why you think you have a bowel infection or stomach virus. The MOM will cause you to have a loose stool, especially if you're eating greasy junk food like fries.
You may be slightly dehydrated, which can cause a headache. You have an appointment with a doc. In the meantime, you can take advil or tylenol for your headache, and be sure you're drinking enough fluids like water, watered down kool-aid or lemonade, or diet soda.
Rather than take something like MOM, be sure you're eating cereals like oatmeal and whole grains, fruits and veggies, and drinking enough fluids. At your age, if you're eating properly and getting enough exercize and fluids, you shouldn't have a problem with constipation.
Question for a doctor, not YA.
Well, if you're having hot/cold spells, you've probably got a fever. So, yes, it could very well be a stomach bug. It's good that you're seeing your doctor on Tuesday, though, just to be sure.
It is funny how our digestive system affects us. Sounds to me like you got rid of a bunch of stool that you needed to rid yourself of. Drink lots of water and eat raisen bran every day and you won't have to do that again. It's also reeeealllly good for your intestine in the long run. Trust me on that one.

Both my parents suffer from bad back pain due to arthritis like conditions of the spine. Can I avoid this happ

ening to me?
Answer:
lets try a simple answer. Calcium. is your number one preventative. try not to injure your back. Take good care of yourself. And speak with your doctor.
The best things you can do to prevent back pain are:

Exercise often and keep your back muscles strong.
Maintain a healthy weight or lose weight if you weigh too much. To have strong bones, you need to get enough calcium and vitamin D every day.
Try to stand up straight and avoid heavy lifting when you can. If you do lift something heavy, bend your legs and keep your back straight.

Anyone can have back pain, but some things that increase your risk are:

Getting older. Back pain is more common the older you get. You may first have back pain when you are 30 to 40 years old.
Poor physical fitness. Back pain is more common in people who are not fit.
Being overweight. A diet high in calories and fat can make you gain weight. Too much weight can stress the back and cause pain.
Inherited diseases or conditions. Some kinds of back pain, such as disc disease, can be inherited.
Other diseases. Some types of arthritis and cancer can cause back pain.
Your job. If you have to lift, push, or pull while twisting your spine, you may get back pain. If you work at a desk all day and do not sit up straight, you may also get back pain.
Smoking. Your body may not be able to get enough nutrients to the discs in your back if you smoke. Smoker鈥檚 cough may also cause back pain. People who smoke are slow to heal, so back pain may last longer.
Another factor is race. For example, black women are two to three times more likely than white women to have part of the lower spine slip out of place.

Booze or meds need feed back please!?

I have a date tonight and we're supposed to go to dinner @ which I always have a margarita or two but I can't drink booze with my back meds b/c it gives me the head ache from hell. Hence I have 2 choices

1) Take my back meds %26 smoke my weed %26 still have nice buzz w/o the booze?

2) Not take the back meds, drink the booze AND smoke my weed %26 run the risk of a hangover in the AM

OR chance it %26 space the taking of the Ultram %26 booze apart. That's prolly dangerous but that's me!
Answer:
When I had a bad back, no meds helped my pain better than booze!! Skip the meds, smoke your weed and drink all the booze you want.

By the way, if you have "chronic back pain" and they're telling you it's disc problems, etc... Read this book, no bullshit, it works!!

Healing Back Pain by Dr. John Sarno
You are so right thats dangerous!
Why do you have to do anything that may endanger your life? %26 why do you have to drink or smoke weed to go on this date?
I think if you are going to possibly drink then dont take your meds as drinking %26 medication never mix ! Let me tell you years ago I done this alot %26 one night I had alcohol poisioning...not nice
I suppose that going through an evening WITHOUT booze or weed isn't an option?

You are in BIG trouble. Good luck in life -- you are going to need it.
Take your back meds, skip the weed and drink orange juice and lemonade - your personality will be closer to the real you.
Take your back medication and skip both booze and weed. But I guess I'm being an old fuddy-duddy.
why do u have to drink and can u not have a good time with out it ? i could surely theres a place that does not involve drinking such as a amusement park mini golf or even a movie or how about go kart racing that will be fun and require that u dont drink gl and just have fun u dont have to drink to have a great time
Here's a thought, take your meds and just have dinner and be yourself. You shouldn't have to rely on anything to have a good time, unless your not happy being yourself.
Get some help.
How long have you been taking Ultram? Ulitram is addictive, so if you don't take it you might feel sick.
"Do not stop using this medication suddenly without talking to your doctor. You may need to gradually reduce the dose. Withdrawal symptoms may occur when you stop using Ultram. Withdrawal symptoms include anxiety, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, chills, hallucinations, trouble sleeping, or breathing problems. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these withdrawal symptoms after you stop using Ultram."

You seem like the self destructive type, so I'll spare you the lecture.

Boneloss begins at what age?

Give a range
Nearest range wins points
Answer:
AGe 30-35
Any age you become "stationary". Generally when you retire at age 60 to 70 and just sits at home...
37-42? later if you are active..?
18-25
Well its different for men and women.
Women start boneloss earlier than men as a result of hormomal changes due to menopause-so the age will vary since the age menopause begins is different in women-some women have early menopause as early as 35-37 but in general it would be in mid forties to fifties.

By the time they reach 65-70 then men and women have the same amt of boss loss. And men may not have had any till then...so an age range for women is wide-i iwll say 35-50.

Men well after 50 so i say 55-65

Bone marrow??

In the episode of House M.D. this week they said it was harder to find a suitable bone marrow doner for a black person. Is this because black people dont donate as much as whites or because of something genetic? I asked my biology teacher and she didn't know
Answer:
Bone marrow matches are found on a 6-marker-antigen. Since in most places in North America are majorly populated by white people, there are less black bone marrow donors on the Registry. Certian factors are matched such as blood type for suitable bone marrow donors for a patient. Finding a bone marrow donor of the same race is more effective because they could have similar characteristics, such as blood type.
So, to answer your question in short form: Since black people are a "minority" in most places in North America, there are less black bone marrow donors in the registry. And, if a match is made between two people of the same race, it's more likely to be a successful transplant because their genes would have more in common.
it depends on the individual's attitude and will to donate one of his/her organ after death so that others may save their lives getting those but somebody ,most of us rather is unwilling to donate those even after death,it's not a question of black and white, question of extreame nobility, and yes there is ofcourse some genetic cause of matching tissues, cells.blood groups ,rh factors or other parameters

Bone Marrow Test Refusal?

I'm 73 yrs old. Today I bushhogged 7 acres, trimmed a row of large trees down my road, replaced 2 screens on the house, all before noon.
I also have been attended a university, taking a 200 level history course and and a 300 level psychology course. Two days ago I volunteered to take a bone marrow test for a peson in need. They told me I'm to old to donate!! what the hell is that all about!!!
Answer:
They're not questioning your vigor!

As people grow older there is a greater chance that their marrow can carry some pathogens that would be dangerous if not deadly to the recipient.

Some agencies have restrictions on the maximum age to join the program, and a maximum age when people in the program can no longer participate.

P.S. I hope to have your level of vitality if I reach your age. My hat's off to you, mate!
Not only do donor registries have an upper, but they have a lower age limit. The chance of complications increases after 60; so oftentimes they limit donors between 18-60.

This isn't a question of your physical ability, but potential complications to you if there was a problem.

There are many other restrictions placed on donating marrow.

Bonamine Reviews?

Has anyone taken Bonamine for motion sickness?
If yes, does it work?
Answer:
when i was a kid i used to take that pill during road trips but i think it doesnt help coz i always end up outside the car, throwing up. its just my opinion. =)

Body smaller on one side?

What could cause the bone structure of the body to be smaller on one side? Is ir normal?
Answer:
Slight differences are normal, especially during growth stages -- other than that, you'l obviously want to get it checked out

Body length improving?

I have hered recently about some kinds of electerical shoes which can stimulate the nerves or dorsum of feet and then they can destroy the false curvature of spinal cord and with some kind of methods!! they can improve the length of body for 5-10 cm durring 2-3 months of frequnt use.
what do you thing?is it true? if yes please introduce me one of best mark of them and related web site.
I am 155 cm and 24 years old :-(

regards.
Answer:
I hate to tell you but they don't work. Doubtful but might help with the spine, I don't see how coming from the bottom up, that's not the way gravity works. Growing taller/longer no. Nothing ever invented, created, discovered or made will make U grow, only time. Males stop in there early 20's. The truth is not what we always want to hear but I'm not going to lie to U on Ur question. Best of luck.

Body clocks?

Answer:
www.google.com has a great deal of information that you could use to find your answers , while ByeDr.com is more likely to be better for people's opinions.. thanks.

Bmi is in 20's fat?

on all of the charts they say like 22 is average and under 18.5 is bad

but i find those who are over 20 are FAT not badley but no as nice as a bmi of like 18 or 19 or even 20

i have a bmi of 19.2 and i am a little porkie i overeat and dont take that mch excersie if i was really healthy i would be like 18 and apparently thats underweight!
Answer:
Regardless of what you think, it is clinically proven that people with a bmi of under 18.5 are likely to be causing themselves serious damage and also are likely to not live as long. Obviously some people are naturally skinny. But I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
You are NOT "Porkie", girl! I think you're perfect!

Cheers
mine is like 18 or 19 i cant remember and 18.5 is underweight, it wont kill you if you lower your bmi, just because it says your underweight, is nothing, im skin and bones lol
bmi has little to do with how fat you look. its more to do with what percentage of your body is fat.
BMI goes by age as well. I keep mine at 24.9 as 25 is the normal to fat for my height and weight. I am not sure how you calculated your BMI?
Do not over eat. Eat moderately. You loose weight. Avoid deep fried snacks and pizza.
BMI of 20 is not fat. I'm a dietitian, and a healthy BMI = 18.5 -25. A BMI of 18 is not severly underweight, but I wouldn't recommend it.
If you feel a "little porkie" try toning up with hand weights if you aren't already doing so. You may also want to talk to your doctor about eating disorders. People with eating disorders have distorted self body images. Good Luck!
I think measuring your body weight using the BMI system is confusing. My BMI falls into the top of the overweight category, but I am only an average size 14. I do have large boobs %26 more body muscle than most people (which weighs more than fat). I wouldn't class myself as particularly overweight. Don't worry about your BMI too much. You are obviously aware of the fact that you perhaps need to increase your excercise %26 watch what you eat but don't get obsessed by it. Dieting can actually make you worse off as it can have a yo yo effect when you come off the diet. You should try not to over eat but you should never be hungry either. Try to snack on healthy nuts, fruit etc not crisps or chocolate. Just eat sensibly but don't restrict yourself too much. If you want a cake just have it %26 don't feel bad about it. We aren't all designed to be stick thin, I actually think a curvy figure is far more attractive. Anyway, your general fitness is far more important than your dress size. Work on some cardiovascular exercise without overdoing things. I have an eliptical glider machine which is good fun %26 low impact. I got it from QVC.co.uk. You can get workout equipment quite cheaply now (%26 coming from someone who hates exercise!) it can be fun.
Forget BMI, it is just comparison of your weight and height and does not take into account build or muscle mass.

The only way to know if you are overfat, underfat or normal is to find out your body fat percentage. This is the percentage of your total body weight that comes from fat. And there are girls with BMI's of less than 20 with over 30% body fat and girls with BMI's in the 20's with less than 20% body fat. It's all to do with your body composition.

Your goal should not be having a low BMI, but having a healthy level of body fat and muscle mass. A healthy body fat percentage for a female would be between 19%-31%. Female athletes may have as little as 14%-18% body fat due to very high muscle mass. 10%-13% body fat is the minimum essential fat your body needs just to function and 32% body fat would be too much.

HTH : )
This is your personal view on life. BMI was designed to be an index of weight in relation to health, not physical appearance.
A BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is a healthy weight range to be in. So although you might think you are a little porkie you are definately not! If you are concerned about your shape then maybe following a healthy diet and doing some exercise every day would help. Not to make you lose weight but to shape up.
I am concerned that someone would suggest that anyone with a BMI over 20 is fat. It just goes to show how much some people have been brainwashed by the media and the skinny celebs out there!
Your health should come before a desire to be ultra skinny!

BM Bleeding? what to do ??

Dont mean to be gross but.. my husband is having a problem when he uses umm.. the #2 he says he bleeds alot .. i mean the whole toilet water turns red .. what should we do i am scared and very concerned
Answer:
You need to contact your husbands doctor immediately or take your husband to the hospital. He could possibly have hemorrhoids, a bleeding ulcer, GI bleeding. It could actually be pretty serious if you dont take care of it! You want to know where the blood is coming from, and thats the most important! So please take care of this as soon as possible. . . Best of Luck
well you can whack it off and look inside to see if anythign looks out of place, or you coudl go to the doctor
Im not the brightest bulb...

HOW BOUT A DOCTOR?
1. Get off of Y/A and take him to his doctor ASAP.

2. Listen to the Doctor.

Please, seek a medical professional now.

Good luck
Probably just hemmorhoids, but he should get it checked out soon.
internal hemorrhoids, anal fissure, tumor

I would say go to the doctor.
ER now!!
if its only when going to the bathroom. I'd call the doctor if its still happening. otherwise, I'd go to the emergency room.
Go to the Doctor!
He needs to go see the doctor. It could just be hemmrhoids, but it could be something much more serious. Don't wait, go see the doctor, because it can be a sign of serious internal problems too.
He needs to go to the doctor!
immediately and without delay, call a doctor, speak with a nurse, they will advise if he needs to go to an emergency room or if he can wait a day or two for an appointment. but this is nothing to play around with. call now.
good luck
xxoo
Yes be very concerned. Call now and make an appointment for him to see the doc ASAP. Get off the computer and call the doc so he gets that appointment made.
I'm not a doctor but know of someone who had a similar problem. He should definitely have it checked by a doctor. It may be hemmorhoids or polyps. The person I knew had polyps that would bleed...don't really know what they are..maybe abnormal growths in the rectum. He had surgery for it and was sore for maybe a couple of days and has been fine ever since...that was probably 10-15 years ago.
Sounds like hemorrhoids.if its red then its external, blood in his stool would turn the stool dark..tell him stop forcing the turd out and increase fiber in his diet..call me in the morning!
been there.. if it's red, then it's most likely a hemmorhoid... no need to be too concerned unless it doesn't stop after a day or so...

a small amount of blood in the water looks like huge amount. I was rather scared my first time with it.. went to my dr and that was confirmed as what it was.
If its blood with stool then its probably hemorrhoids or an abrasion of the large intestine. Both are usually not that big a deal but still require medical attention. If there is blood in the stool eg. red brown/black stools, it is usually indicative of a much more serious condition. Either way seek immediate medical attention just in case.
Please take him to the doctor ASAP. I know it is sometimes hard to get guys to go in, but it is really really important.

It might just be hemorrhoids but it could be colon cancer or something serious. He needs to be checked. He could become anemic and start having other problems too. Insist he goes in. It is impossible to know what is wrong without an exam. (Yes I know he will hate it, but it is necessary. Hold his hand if it helps).
You definitely need to get him checked out. It could be something like hemroids or could be something as bad as Salmonilla or Ecolli. He'll need to be able to describe the color of the blood as well as if it has a smell. When my son had Salmonila it was a dark red that had an infection type smell. Don't ask for answers about something that serious on here.get him to the hospital.
Please get him to a doctor immediately!! It could just be hemmoroids, but it could also be colon cancer.

A good friend who had rectal bleeding had colon cancer but she's okay now because it was caught early.
it is a chance that he has hemmorhoids, but it can also indicate intestinal or abdominal bleeding, so go to the doctor and they will probably do a colonoscopy, they may also want a sample of his bowels, if possible bring one with you it will get the lab testing started quicker
I guess since he's not seeing a doctor, you have no insurance. But please know that while it might not be serious, it could become serious by prolonging treatment. So you will not know until he see's a doctor. Find a clinic, or a hospital outpatient service, most will see him for no immediate charge, under the circumstances. Then they will offer an inexpensive sliding scale fee based on your salary, bring proof of income, like 4 weeks of paychack stubs. it could be something as harmless as a benign cyst or hemmoroids, but he will still need treatment.
Sounds like he might have hemorrhoids. Take him to the doctor. Hemorrhoids sometimes can require surgery. He may also have polyps. Either way he needs to be seen by his physician.
Its his hemorrhoids. Go to the drug store or walmarts %26 get some over the counter meds. for it. If you go to the dr. they are going to tell you the same thing. He needs to drink more water %26 eat more fiber. I know cause I went thru this but mine was so bad I had to wear a pad. I know gross but its true %26 that is what the dr. told me to do. Good luck %26 don't worry

Blurred vision?

I got some dirt in my eye today and it really hurt and now i can hardly see out of it.
Answer:
Try this and see if it helps:
Get some Visine and put a drop in each eye then close your eye and rub with your finger your eyelid rubbing toward the corner (the corner closest to your nose) and see if that gets it out. I hope it helps and I hope your eye gets to feeling better!
did you wash you eye out?? If you did an it is still the same way , go to an eye doctor

Blurred vision for a few days...what's wrong?

I woke up 2 mornings ago and my vision was blurry. It went away after a while but got worse and better throughout the day. The same thing happened yesterday and today. I don't smoke, I don't wear glasses, I don't do drugs or drink excessively. I'm 18, do you have any idea what could be going on? If I have to see an eye doctor, what do you think they will do to fix this?
Answer:
you may want to see your family dr. to have your blood sugar levels checked...for a possibility of diabetes..If your blood sugar levels are high, this will affect your eyes.
This could also be due to hypertension.
There could be a possible eye infection.
By seeing your family physician, if he/she makes a referral to see an ophthamologist, your medical insurance will cover the office call. See an ophthamologist, and rule out all potential problems...but do not hesitate to go and check this out immediately!!
Taking any prescription drugs?? They are often the culprit. If not, you should definitely get your eyes checked a.s.a.p.
This is not a normal thing to have happen, especially at your young age. You should really see a doctor.

Bloodshot eyes?

My eyes have been kinda sore, like a burning or maybe stinging feeling, since I got up today. They also feel dry. I realized a while ago that they were also bloodshot. I put my glass of ice water on my eyelids and it helped for a few minutes. Is there a way to fix this, and why did it happen?
Answer:
Bloodshot eyes are usually caused by lack of sleep, tiredness, allergies, irritations and drinking too much alcohol. This condition can also be caused by high blood pressure and other medical problems, as well as allergic reactions to makeup. To relieve the redness and dryness, use these homemade treatments for bloodshot eyes.
I think that this happens sometimes when the weather changes. Maybe if you just get a lot of sleep tonight, your eyes will heal?

Feel better!

Bloodshot eye?

I'm worried about my dad. When he gets stressed out, his right eye gets bloodhot (looks like a bloodvessel exploded) and his face turns red. But he keeps on working and feels that he is too busy to do anything about it. He was told by a doctor friend to drink plenty of fluid for his high blood pressure but he doesnt do that during the day-he keeps water around but doesn't drink alot of it and he looks dried out. And when he does drink it is the carbonated water. Is he in any danger or am I over-reacting? I was thinking if I could send him some informed answers he might get the message and change his ways. Thanks.
Answer:
it could be about blood vessels the best solution is to drink a lot of water and never expose his eye to anything that might be harmful especially micro waves the process might be reversible by restarting the whole eyes' health take him to the ocean and get him in the sea the salt will dry the but remove the irratation and stress then a convention eye moisturizer every night before bed should get it back on track
Yo tengo uno gato en mi pantalones.
It sound like a subconjunctival hemorrhage, which is essentially a bruise in the eye. He should evaluated by an Ophthalmologist to make sure it isn't anything more serious.

Blood Type? AB Neg?

I've been told its a rare blood type, i have it and i know a few people have it so i was was wondering how rare it really was... anyone else AB Neg? If not, whats your type?
Answer:
I am o- which makes me a universal donor. O- can donate blood to anyone but can only accept O-...worst type to have if you need best to give
AB+

Very rare AB is like only 4% of the population. And, I would guess the RH is about 50/50.

So, I would guess you are part of 2% of the population that have AB-

AB positive can receive any blood type. And you can receive any RH negative blood type.
I'm B+.

I haven't ever met anyone with the same blood type as me.

However, my youngest brother's type is AB-. He was born 8 weeks premature.
Yes it is rare . My girlfriend has this kind of blood !! Rare and peculiar ! AB pos is universal recipient which I believe is more unusual
I am O neg which is universal donor my blood is fine for all !!
What are the different types of blood? (Top)
Blood comes in different types. Each person has a specific ABO type (A, B, AB, 0) and RH factor (positive or negative). Nearly half of all the blood ordered by hospitals is Type 0 negative.

The most prevalent types of blood are 0 positive and A positive. The least common types are B negative and AB negative. Only fifteen percent of the population is negative for the RH factor.

Type 0 negative donors are always in demand because their blood can be safely transfused to patients of all blood types, making them "universal donors."

For example, a premature baby's life can depend on a transfusion of 0 negative blood because the usual cross-matching and blood-typing procedures may not be possible. Or in an emergency, a patient may need a transfusion immediately, with no time to cross-match blood. Often, the patient receives type 0 negative blood until the emergency is over and the patient is stable.

Patients with any of the positive blood types can safely receive type 0 positive blood.

Here is a breakdown of different blood types and their uses:
Prevalence of Blood Type
AB Neg. .6% 1 in 167

B Neg. 1.5% 1 in 67

AB Pos. 3.4% 1 in 29

A Neg. 6.3% 1 in 16

0 Neg. 6.6% 1 in 15

B Pos. 8.5% 1 in 12

A Pos. 35.7% 1 in 3

0 Pos. 37.4% 1 in 3

Possible Transfusion Combinations
Blood Type Can be given to patients with type
0+ 0+, A+, B+, AB+

A+ A+, AB+

B+ B+, AB+

AB+ AB+

0- 0+, A+, B+, AB+, 0- , A- , -B , AB-

A- A+, AB+, A- , AB-

B- B+, AB+, B- , AB-

AB- AB+, AB-
my hubby is also AB- i'm O+ . my best friend's mom is also AB- as well.
That is the rarest of blood types, less than three percent of the population.

You may, however receive red blood cells from any other group, so long as it is Rh negative.

AB is called the universal recipient, because they can receive blood from all the other groups.

Rh is most important in pregnancies, in women who are Rh negative and have been immunized to the Rh factor. Modern medicine has developed a solution to this problem.
I just found out that I am B negative today... almost the rarest apparently.
I'm B+, uncommon, but not as rare as yours. Apparently country also has to do with occurence rates as well
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/blood_type#...
except AB- is the rarest everywhere.

Blood test?

I had a CBC along with numerous other blood tests done on friday at around 12 am. If my CBC came back abnormal, when would they notify me?
Answer:
It depends on your area. Currently I have a "high risk" pregnancy and go for blood work once a week, where I am, the labs are open Monday to Saturday. Different labs have different times, but it will range from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. The antenatal home care nurses who take care of me will have the lab results within 24 hours. If they call to get it, they can have it within 3 hours. Otherwise, someone from the lab or the doc's office are suppose to call within 3 business days either way.

In my home town, labs are open from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Unless there is a reason for a rush, your doctor's office sets up a follow up appointment when you get your req for the blood work. They won't call you before that.

So it depends. Generally, a week is the MAXIMUM I'd expect anyone to wait, anywhere for the results of blood work. However, if there is a problem, many places have a policy to NOT tell you over the phone. Good Luck!
You have aids, I'm so sorry.
I dunno, I got tested for HIV before and never went back for results. Nobody ever called me so I figured i'm fine.
depends what you mean by abnormal
if its abnormal they will notify you as soon as they get the test results back.. ! To do someother test.. But if its normal and you dont hear from them soon that means its normal and they will just send you a letter telling you everything is ok.. !
that usually depends on what test was off a CBC usually results are back within a hour from being drawn, if something was off significantly you will probably be notified on monday
12am, were u in the ER ? If so, u get the results there. If u mean u had it done Fri at noon, u should have the results on Monday. It really depends where u had the blood work done as to how fast u get the results. If the results r abnormal, the doctor will notify u ASAP. Ur doctor probably is not in his office over the weekend.
Normally, you will go to the doctor that ordered the tests, to get the results, the interpretations, and any course of action necessary because of the tests.
its according to the population of your area and how far away your sample had to go for testing, some large cities work 24/7 but still usually a week for test answers which are not immediate life or death. i have to have blood work before every doctors appointment, i go in a week ahead to have it drawn. im diabetic which is the main reason they keep such a close eye on mine.
The lab wont notify you, and sometimes the people who work in the doctors office dont contact you either. Be sure that YOU contact them and follow up on all your work!

Blood test results?

I just had a blood test scan as part of a physical and my results came back "27" even though the doctor said they should be in the 30's. My diagnosis code is 285.9 which says i have low red blood cell count and need more iron but that is her recommendation before I have a full blood scan later on to find out whats really wrong...Does anyone know what this is or what can cause this?
Answer:
A hematocrit of 27 is low, but you haven't left much for us to go on. Hypochromic, microcytic anemia (not only are the cells too few, but they're too small and lack the normal amount of hemoglobin) is normally due to iron deficiency, and that in turn is usually from blood loss. In young women, that blood loss is usually menstrual, whereas in older men, one tends to be concerned about other causes, like colon cancer. On the other end of the spectrum are the anemias with big, fat red cells, macrocytic anemias, caused by folic acid or vitamin B 12 deficiency, this latter also known as pernicious anemia. In between there are a conglomeration of less common anemias. It would be easier to tell you what you might expect if we knew more about your blood count, but at any rate, the additional tests should give you an answer without too much trouble or time.
Shakin' head - ASK YOUR DOCTOR what it means. SHE knows better than any of us would
It's anemia. This causes fatigue more than anything else, but you might need a blood transfusion every once in a while.

Blood test results, please explain?

i had a routine blood test which the nurse said showed my white blood cells are low so i had another one and today she told me that the first one was 11.4 and this one is now 12.6, what does this mean? i have been feeling run down and getting bad headaches but put this down to being a busy mum, also i keep getting pain and bruises over my legs without any reason. any ideas!
Answer:
Seems the test was a complete blood count.

11,4 and 12,6 seem results of hemoglobin. Both were OK if they were (the cutpoint is 11,3 for women)
my mum had the same thing i think it is that you white blood cells has gone up witch is good for you.the leg pains,my mum is seeing a physiotherapist, and it has help.
good luck get better
Your results must be in a unit I'm not familiar with. Normals in the system we use run 4.5 to 11.0 for adults. But if it was low, up is a good thing. :)

there are several reasons for a white count to be low, and your doctor will be able to tell you better than I can. But it can be stress related, and parenting is often stressful. Bruising isn't related to the white count, but if it's down, there's a chance your platelet count may have dipped as well, which can cause bruising.

My best answer is to call the doctor and see if he might recommend doing a coagulation (PT and PTT) test to rule out a blood problem causing your bruises, and ask if he thinks any further action needs to be taken to correct your white count.

Best of luck.
sounds like your anemic to me i was same as you for a long time they put me on iron tablets they do the trick your full blood count is what they did the higher numbers better so your improving,it does make you feel tired when your anemic.hope you feel better soon.
It sounds like the 11.4 and 12.6 might be referring to your hemoglobin level, which is written as Hb, but without knowing what letters those levels refer to, it is impossible to correctly answer your question, so try to get that info and i will try my best to answer your question!
the white blood cells she is referring to are leukocytes, which are part of your bodys defense team or immune system. I dont think the 11-12 reading is referring to your white blood cells because she mentined they were "low" and this is not a low value for WBC.
Sounds like (1) the nurse did an inefficient job of explaining the results (2) You -- liike most of us -- failed to ask the right questions of the nurse/doctor about what these 'mysterious' numbers mean!

One website refers to white bloodcell counts measured thus:
QUOTE
"What does the test result mean?
An elevated number of white blood cells is called leukocytosis. This can result from bacterial infections, inflammation, leukaemia, trauma, or stress. A WBC count of 11.0鈥?7.0x109/L cells would be considered mild to moderate leukocytosis.

A decreased WBC count is called leukopenia. It can result from many different situations, such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or diseases of the immune system. A count of 3.0鈥?.0x109/L cells would be considered mild leukopenia."

NOTE that if your numbers were to relate to this then your count would be deemed HIGH!

You really need to go back to the Doc and ask him what the results mean, and what he would recommend. You need to tell him how you have been feeling though and about the bruising. Whilst being run down could relate to the aftermath of an infection...which can affect white cell count -- you ought to speak to your GP rather than get more stressed or worried about what might be suggested here (on Y!Answers).
I think you really should discuss these results with your nurse or doctor, did you not ask what they meant at the time ? Are they doing any further tests ?
Below is some info about white blood cells from Wikepedia, read it all and note that flu and many common medications can cause a low white cell count before you start to worry.

Leukopenia (or leukocytopenia, or leucopenia or leukopaenia) is a decrease in the number of circulating white blood cells (leukocytes) in the blood. As the principal function of white cells is to combat infection, a decrease in the number of these cells can place patients at increased risk for infection.

In pancytopenia, the other cell types in the blood (red blood cells and platelets) are similarly affected.

Neutropenia is a decrease in the number of circulating neutrophil granulocytes, the most abundant white blood cells. The terms leukopenia and neutropenia may occasionally be used interchangeably, as the neutrophil count is the most important indicator of infection risk. However, neutropenia is more properly considered a subset of leukopenia as a whole.

Low white cell counts are associated with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, leukemia (as malignant cells overwhelm the bone marrow), myelofibrosis and aplastic anemia (destruction of the bone marrow by the immune system). In addition, many common medications can cause leukopenia.

Other causes of low white blood cell count include: Influenza, systemic lupus erythematosus, typhus, malaria, HIV, tuberculosis, dengue, Rickettsial infections, enlargement of the spleen, folate deficiencies and sepsis. Many other causes exist.

Leukopenia can be identified with a complete blood count.
I hate to say this, but you might have cancer
You need to discuss the results futher.
Try asking for a telephone consultation with the nurse.

I work as a practice nurse and we lay aside time slots to phone people and discuss issues such as these.

It may be that she recommends you see a Dr.

Do it tomorrow so you don't spend any more time worrying.

I'm sure you will be fine, white cell and platelet counts, can vary for all sorts of reasons.
Some times after a virus.
IF 11.4 and 12.6 referred to white blood cells that would mean borderline high. I wonder if the figures you are giving refer to haemoglobin, in which case they are normal.

Here is a wild suggestion, why not go back and ask the nurse, she actually has the results!
Go back to your GP. The normal range for white blood cell count is between 3.7 and 10.5 so not sure how yours can be low at 11.4 and 12.6. Are you sure the GP is not referring to Heamoglobin - that normal range is between 11.5 and 15. On that basis 12.6 would be OK - mid range. The thing is that these counts can change on a day to day basis. I would go back to the GP but in the meantime, just try and relax. May be you are just feeling a bit run down like we all get but the worry of these tests are getting on top of you. Good luck. x p.s these ranges were given to me by a BUPA doctor following a recent health check I had.

Blood pressure?

i am 24 and my blood pressure is 110/68 is this normal
Answer:
Yes thats fine!
It's a fab one!

120/80 is considered text book perfect, anything lower is good for your health, except if it drops too low (yours isn't), it can make you a little light heated and dizzy!
yes.

90/60- 135/85 is a fairly normal range.
Don't worry about high blood pressure. It's hypertension thats the killer.
you're perfectly fine.
Yes. You will find that each time you take your BP it will be slightly different. Anything around this 110/68 is totally normal for your age in a fit, average weight person.
Fine why do you ask?
for your age group , and female it should be approx 110/60 so you are in good health, if it went over 125 in the top figure you would need to see a G.P.
the same as if your lower reading went down to less than 40, but say your reading was 110/40 then you would be a very fit chick.

Blood pressure med?

A friend of mine once said that if someone starts taking blood pressure medication you basically have to keep taking them for life. Is this true?
Answer:
Of course it varies with the particular drug, but after a period on the drug, cessation would lead to a rebound effect where the blood pressure would increase - probably higher than it is naturally now.
In general yes. Hypertension can be inherited and unavoidable. It can also be the results of life style. If this is the case and one reduces their sodium intake, increases their amount of exercise and looses weight, they may bring their BP down without the need for meds. Also, stress reduction, avoidance if smoking and drinking will benefit the effort.
If your blood pressure has remained stubbornly high despite taking at least three medications from different classes of antihypertensive drugs, one of which is a diuretic, you may have resistant hypertension 鈥?blood pressure that is resistant to treatment.

This doesn't mean your blood pressure will never get lower. In fact, if you and your doctor can identify what's behind your persistently high blood pressure, there's a good chance you can meet your goal with the help of treatment that's more effective. You may need to see a hypertension specialist if your primary care doctor isn't able to pinpoint a cause.

Your doctor or hypertension specialist can evaluate whether the medications and doses you're taking for your high blood pressure are appropriate. You may have to fine-tune your medications to come up with the most effective combination and doses.

If you don't strictly follow the prescribed medication regimen, your blood pressure can pay the price. If you skip doses because you can't afford the medication, because you have disagreeable side effects or because you simply forget to take your medications, talk to your doctor about solutions. Don't alter your treatment without your doctor's guidance.

In addition, you and your doctor can review medications you're taking for other conditions. Those or other substances or foods can worsen high blood pressure or prevent your medications from working effectively. Be open and honest with your doctor about all the medications, substances, supplements and products you take. Underlying causes of resistant hypertension should also be considered such as sleep apnea and kidney or hormonal abnormalities.

Blood pressure and heart rate?

can anyone explainy why blood pressure and heart rate differ when measured in a reclinging position and in a standing position?
Answer:
Because your blood has less to pump less when you are reclining...it has to put less pressure into making sure the blood reaches your extremities
when you're reclining, gravity is not affecting your body as much, and there is more blood returning to your heart from your legs- that makes your blood pressure increase a bit and your heart rate to slow. when you're standing, gravity is making the blood from your legs harder to push back up to your heart, so your blood pressure drops and your heart rate increases. that's why sometimes you can get light-headed when you stand up too quickly from a sitting position.

Blood in my stool. Help!?

Okay so i took 2 laxatives because i had been pooping like 5 really dark tiny poops drops once a day. and the laxatives didnt do anything. so i took one more before i went to bed. i woke up in the middle of the night with the worst stomach pains ever and pooped. so i took a cherry mylanta chewable. this morning when i woke up i thought i had started my period when i wiped but it was my butt bleeding. do you think the mucus was just turned red from the chewable or do you think its blood. it looks like blood but im trying to be optimistic. help!
Answer:
Could be hemorrhoids. If you aren't pooping then maybe you had been pushing really hard trying to get something out and strained yourself. I wouldn't worry to much unless the problem persists.
Call the doctor asap!
Polyps, or hemorrhoids.
Drink more water and see your Dr.
Better to be safe than sorry..Call your dr and schedule an appointment asap and bring it up to his/her attention. I dont want to scare you but blood in your stool isn't good. Good luck and everything will be fine =) continue being optimistic...it helps
There are several reasons a person can bleed from the rectum and none of them are good. Get yourself to a doctor and be quick about it.
I would wait to go again and see if it still looks bloody then i would definitely call the doctor cuz that is a sign of some really serious illnesses.
You might have a gastrointestinal disease like Crohn's or Colitus, which is an ulcer on your intestine's. If it happens again, see a doctor!!
Could be several reason, and no matter what you should see a doctor just to be safe. It's almost always caused by hemorrhoids, when the stool passes by inflames blood vessels and sort of slices them open. It can be very painful, or you can feel nothing at all.

It could also be cause by colon cancer, which is obviously not a good thing. There's a long list of possible causes but either way you should see a doctor. They'll do a full exam and probably take a sample to rule out anything bad like cancer. Most likely it will turn out to be hemorrhoids and you'll get some medicine. Drink more water and eat more fiber!
Go to the doctor now, NOW DARN IT!!!
if you were constipated you could have torn some tissue while pooping. you could have a hemroid or you could have a bleeding ulcer.
Stop the medicines. Eat some mild mild mild food. If you are not straightened out after 48 hours, then see a doctor. Additionally, of course, if something drastic happens, like BIG bleeding, see the doc immediately. But I think you probably bled because you got a sore butt with all the laxatives.

I have read that people WAY overdo it on laxatives in general. These substances are hard on the body. What we need, unless we are really sick, is just a normal, balanced diet every day, with plenty of water.

That said, I am not a doctor. If you suspect you are truly sick, see a doctor. The peace of mind is priceless.

Blood in duki...? Help!?

Lately a... friend of mine, has been staining a bit when she has bowel movement. It was no alarm for her because it had happened before. However, today she went and there was a blood clot of maybe half a cubic inch. It kind of burns when she cleans herself a little. Is this just regular hemorroids or should she be worried? Is there any overthecounter medicine she could take...? Please she's a little freaked out, no demeaning answers or innapropiate comments.
Answer:
If she is having clots come from her rectum, she must get in to see a doctor right away.

Also, for some quick relief, tell her to use Witch Hazel on a folded tissue against her anus for the discomfort. But NO clots should be coming from her rectum.
Blood with your bowel can be serious and can be minor. It could be from a tear on your anus while you're pushing, or it could be a more internal problem, like blood from inner rectum, or worst from your GI system. Constipation can cause rectal tear and bleeding with pain. But always get it check it out with a professional, the safest way out.

Answer:
When To Call a Doctor
Common symptoms of hemorrhoids may indicate other serious health problems. Colon or rectal cancer and other conditions have many of the same symptoms as hemorrhoids. You should call your health professional if:

Rectal bleeding occurs that is not associated with trying to pass stools.
Stools become more narrow than usual (may be no wider than a pencil).
You cannot pass stools, or you have diarrhea with abdominal bloating.
Stools are black or tarry.
Any unusual material seeps from the anus.
Fever accompanies bloody stools or what you think may be hemorrhoids.
A lump or bulge that is not tender and does not go away develops at the anal opening.
If you have hemorrhoids, call your health professional if:

Moderate rectal pain lasts longer than 1 week after home treatment.
Pain or swelling is severe.
Tissue from inside the body bulges from the anus and does not return to normal after 3 to 7 days of home treatment.
A lump inside the anus becomes bigger or more painful.
If rectal bleeding becomes heavy or changes color (such as from bright red to dark red), or if stools change color (from brown to maroon or black), you should be evaluated by your health professional.

Watchful Waiting
If you are younger than age 50 and occasionally have minimal rectal bleeding (bright red blood seen mainly on toilet paper) from hemorrhoids, you may try home treatment for a week or two if you are reasonably certain that the bleeding is caused by one of the following:

Straining to pass stools
A known injury to the anus
See the Home Treatment section of this topic for more information.

In most cases, bleeding caused by hemorrhoids should stop after 2 to 3 days. Continue home treatment to prevent bleeding from recurring. Call your health professional if bleeding:

Persists for more than 1 week without improvement.
Recurs.
Occurs when there is no reason to expect it.
If you are older than age 50 or have a family history of colon cancer, it is a good idea to consult your health professional any time you have new rectal bleeding, notice blood on your stools, have changes in bowel habits, or have anal pain. These symptoms may be signs of colon cancer or other conditions. Your health professional may recommend screening tests to see if you have a more serious problem. See the Exams and Tests section of this topic.

Who To See
The following professionals can evaluate and treat hemorrhoids:

Family medicine doctor
Internist
Nurse practitioner
Physician assistant
Obstetrician
Gynecologist
General surgeon
If medical treatment or surgery is necessary, you may be referred to a:

Gastroenterologist.
General or colorectal surgeon.
Doctor who specializes in problems affecting the rectum and anus (proctologist).

She needs to see a doctor. You cannot determine that kind of medical condition from just knowing that information. It could be a few things. I have been in the medical field and have seen different things from that cenario.
I, personally, would go to the ER! If the blood clot was as big as your saying I am sure "she" should get a professionals advice.
Blood in the bowel is never a good thing, If the blood is a light red it means that it could be from a hemorroid or from close to teh surface, if it is a drak red it sometimes means that is from deep in teh colon. The only real way to find out is to see a doctor and fast. I had dark blood in my bowel and it was from a blocked colon from a tumor. Your friend needs to see a doctor now. do not delay it could be the difference between life and death!
Common Sense:

She should run to a DR!!

Obviously something is very wrong. She needs immediate medical assistance.
It couldbe a hemorrhoid or it could be something more serious. Any time there is blood present that has come from the bowel it needs to be checked out by a physician. She needs to make an appointment.
well hemorrids wouldnt produce a clot go to the doctor could be a sign of colon cancer
If it burns when you wipe it is most likely a hemorrhoid, try applying witch hazel to it several times daily. It's like the only thing that actually heals them. Unfortunately it sounds like hers/yours are internal so you can really put the witch hazel inside. Blood in the stool can also be caused by more serious things so if you are experiencing any other symptoms or are concerned you should alert your physician.
SHE SHOULD GO TO HER FAMILY DOCTOR OR EMERGENCY ROOM. SHE COULD HAVE NUMBER OF THINGS WRONG WITH HER.
COULD BE HEMROIDS, PALLOPS, FISCHERS, OF WHICK ALL CAN LEAD TO CANCER SO PLEASE YOUR FRIEND SHOULD GO TO THE DOCTOR.
It could very well be hemorrhoids. That being said, any rectal bleeding should be checked out by an MD.
The clot may be just some residual blood from an internal hemorrhoid/s.
Seriously, see a gastroenterologist or a proctologist.
Good Luck
I have hemorroids my self and they flare up occasionly. usually a little blood on the paper or very seldom a drop of blood or so. I have never seen a clot . It does burn also.

Blood & diarrhea?

Today I was out %26 suddenly got a major belly ache from no where.. I went home %26 had diarrhea (not badly) %26 afterwards I felt fine.. Tonight I went to the toilet %26 nothing happened but there was bright red blood when I wiped.. I've had piles about a month ago %26 treated them with cream, could this be related? I'm only 17 %26 my friend says it's really unlikely to be anything serious like cancer, but I'm worried.. What do you think?
Answer:
Could be a number of things %26 probably not cancer. You should see your pcp to get a referral to a gastroenterologist a.s.a.p. I have crohn's disease so I know all about stomach pain %26 diarrhea. I feel for you! For now, try to take it easy on the food. Only have things that are easy to digest and don't aggrivate your stomach. Nothing with a lot of acidity and herbs and condiments. Stick to the b.r.a.t. diet (bananas, rice, apple sauce and toast). Hope you feel better quick. Good luck!
you should make an appointment with your doctor. better to be safe than sorry. I hope you feel better
The bout of diarrhea may have irrated your anus and caused the bleeding. If you notice it for more then two days call your doctor. It's always good to keep tucks and preparation-H if you have piles.
Bright red blood usually mean hemmorhoids. Keep the area dry and make sure you keep it clean. Eat lots of fiber and drink lots of water to keep your stool soft because after diarrhea usually comes constipation from your body losing so many fluids. If the area becomes swollen and painful use anusol-hc suppositories to help. If it becomes to painful to tolerate, have a parent take you to the hospital :)
hope this helps
What You need to do is see your Dr. and ask him to order a Colonoscopy. My
husband had the same problem and had Lymphoma. He had surgery, chemo,
and now he is doing great. He still has checkups and everything is going well.
Is your friend a Dr.? Don't listen to him. But then even Drs make mistakes; yours
should have ordered the Colonoscopy. It might just be polyps.
It sounds like you still have hemorrhoids. The diarhea simply irritated them and caused one of them to break open- hence the bright red blood. You can't just apply cream to a hemorrhoid and have it go away that quickly, unless you also change a few other things. You develop hemorrhoids because you are straining to pass stools, and you are usually constipated on a regular basis. The combination restricts the blood flow in veins of the lower intesting, the veins in turn get enlarged from the extra blood. The result is similar to a varicose vein, like in the legs- except in this case it's located somewhere else. The veins get big enough to bulge nearly through the lining of the intestine or even to bog down through the anus itself. The result is burning discomfort, as you are well aware. With enough irritation, that thin mucous covering breaks and you see blood.
For immediate relief, you can use either the cream or medicated pads containing witch hazel, which will soothe things. For a cure, you will have to change your diet and toilet habits, and it will take months to actually heal the hemorrhoids. You will have to keep up the changes for life, or they will return. If you do not change, they will get worse- eventually likely needing surgery to remove them. You won't like the surgery, trust me.
Eat your veggies and fruits, for starters. The lettuce, tomato, pickle combo on your burger do not count. You need to eat salads, fruits with skin and all, and lots of them. Eat less red meat, in fact, eat less meat overall. Eat whole grain breads and cereals, the stuff grandma called roughage. Avoid white bread, choose wheat bread instead. Drink plenty of water and other fluids, but go light on alcohol because it dehydrates you.
Take your time in the little reading room, and don't try to rush the job. Do not strain at all. If you are eating properly, this shouldnt be a problem. If you are getting constipated, try to eat something you know encourages movement for you. For most people this is something like prunes, corn, raisins, etc, but also flax seed and muesli. If you must, you can use a stool softener, something gentle like Ducolax- ask the pharmacist to help you. Do not take a laxative. As you already discovered, diarhea is not your friend.
While you are tender, dry toilet paper is a bit rough. Use baby wipes for cleaning, and pat yourself dry. Soak your posterior in a tub of warm water with witch hazel to help with the burn if you need to. You should also use the witch hazel pads each trip to help, and the cream, as needed. In most cases, you can get immediate relief from the trouble in a matter of days. But as tempting as it is, don't think you are healed. You won't be. That will take months of lifestyle and eating change to do. Even then, you will always be at a higher risk to get them again, should you not follow the diet and take care of yourself.
You don't have cancer. Nothing that exotic. You are too young to have this trouble, though, and need to get it under control. As I said, if it gets too far advanced, surgery will be needed to remove the distended veins. It's painful and embarassing, and nobody has ever enjoyed it. So eat your veggies and get some hemorrhoidal creams and pads, and you can solve your problem.

Blonde on top but brown below the belt...?

If my hair is a different shade of blonde b/c of the sun hitting it...does that mean that if my pubic hair was regularly in sunlight; it would be blonde like the hair on my head?
Answer:
I don't think that the sun is the only contributing factor. Some people just have different color hair on different parts of their bodies. A good example would be a friend of mine who has blonde hair but grows a red beard. It would be interesting to test your theory though.
yeah..ummmm.I guess
I think so? Maybe you should ask a beautician see if they would know if there is a hair treatment if you want it to lighten up .
i would say that it propably would change colour if it was out in the sun as long as your head was. but some peoples hair doesnt change colour at all and it may be possible that your pubic hair is different to the hair on your head. I have also heard stories of people shaving their pupic hair off and having it grown back a different colour!
If you shave it, you won't have to worry about it matching the color of the hair on your head.

I think that's an excellent idea myself. Go ahead and do it. Call me if you want help!

Blocked Colon?

I haven't had a bowl movement in 7 days. The first evening I thought I had to but when I went to the bathroom all that came out was pus or white mucus stuff (sorry its so TMI) and a good bit of it. I haven't felt the need to have a BM since then %26 I am in no pain. Well I've been eating spicy foods on purpose because they usually cause me to have loose stools %26 haven't had any result. I've been drinking apple juice %26 eating apples and eating a ton of oat meal %26 still no result. I've also been taking stool softeners for 4 days (2 a day for the last 2 days) %26 still no result. I am able to pass gas %26 actually have the need to do that often(which is odd). I only mentioned it because when I was pregnant a year ago that was a big deal if I could do that even without having a bm (after my c-section) then they would let me go home.
I went to the dr %26 he scheduled me for a barium enema and a colonoscopy %26 gave me some white powder to drink. What could be wrong?? Thanks in advance for your help!
Answer:
By filling the entire cavity of the colon, the doctor can see the contour of the colon's lining. Polyps, diverticula (outpocketings), ulcers, fistula (openings), crypts (certain types of cavities), and inflammatory changes can be detected. Masses (such as tumors) are specifically of interest because this test is often used to screen for colon cancer.

It is also used to evaluate a wide range of other conditions such as:

Appendicitis
Celiac sprue
Colorectal adenoma (harmless tumors)
Colonic diverticula (pouches or sacs in the colon)
Colonic polyps
Crohn disease
Diarrhea
Diverticulitis of the colon
Chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction
Lower gastrointestinal bleeding
Ulcerative colitis
Sounds like ulcerative colitis or ulcerative proctitis. It's an inflammation of the colon or rectum. Avoid inflammatory foods such as alcohol, caffeine, red meat, and peanuts. It's often combined with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which could explain the slow bowel movement. Go through the colonoscopy and they should be able to diagnose you fairly easily. It's treated with enemas or suppositories usually. Neither is difficult to take, just awkward. Stress can also cause inflammation, so try to relax also.
go to a good hospital and ask them to do an enema . you can also get that equipment but that can be too expensive. considering you may have this problem only once.

its a way of inducing warm water into your rectom to your bowel and dissolve and flush the feces out.

hope this helps
Constipation can be debilitating. When your internal plumbing is not moving things along, you can feel bloated and stuffed. Constipation can mimic the sensation of indigestion and leave you unable to function normally. Occasional constipation may not be a pleasant topic of conversation but it's something many people face at some moment in their life. Severe constipation can be another matter altogether! Severe constipation can cause a plethora of health issues. Not only are you uncomfortable and probably bloated, it can cause excessive weight gain, lack of energy, and even foul smelling breath due to the build-up of waste in your system.
I to have had issues like this, I actually had to do a colon cleanse as well. I actually do it regularly now and it has helped allot. You got to keep your bowl moving or you will get sick!

Bloatted uncomfortable stomach... Anybosy got any solutions?

My stomach swells up and is very uncomfortable. I feel like if I stuck something into it and burst it I would have some relief. I went for an allergy test and have to avoid Wheat, dairy, sugar and meat from cows!! This leaves very little to eat. I still feel bloatted and sore. Should I take the allergy test seriously as I think they have eliminated almost everything to be on the safe side. Does anybody have a solution for this??
Answer:
no, the tests have a lot of false positives. keep a diary of what you eat and how your felt, this way, you will know what works for you, but also, make sure you have enough fiber to have reg bm's...this will make you bloated all day long if you do not have good bowel habits.
try taking over the counter Gas X
Do you drink a lot of coffee? I have the SAME problem, it's really annoying. I look like IM pregnant sometimes, yet I have a totally flat stomach (I'm not a fat person, it's just always bloated, wtf) You may need to seriously clean out your system. Go and get some Epsom salt, dissolve a table spoon into a glass of water, and drink it before bed. Flush out your system, trust me. You could have IBS, I do. Take Prilosec OTC and see what happens after all this.
try anything mint. Mint tea, after dinner mints, even chewing on fresh mint. Get plenty of sleep, and take a weekend to clear your system..Drink only water, eat very lightly, and ...poop. One weekend of that will be enuff to help a lot.

Bloated/stomach help!?

ok so its weird, whenever I eat something, my stomach bloats soo much, even if i eat like a little carrot, my stomach WILL bloat.

One time, it was bloated, but i ate alot of potato chips just out of random, and then a few hours later, the bloat was gone...is there a connectoin between chips and bloat??

wahts wrong with my stomach?? how do i stop this bloatedness?
Answer:
Stop holding your farts in.
Eat yogurt.
You need to eat more fiber or take some fiber like Citrucel.
http://www.herbreference.com/perilla.htm...
I drink a cup of water with about 4 drops of vinegar. Or liquid peppermint is even better. It works for me, can't hurt to try. Hope this helps!!
there are many reasons for bloating, but if you believe it has something to do with your eating habits, than you must ask yourself these questions...do you have an eating problem of any type, because if you do your body will try and take every last bit of food you actually do eat, and break it down nice and slow so you don't "starve"...however there are many other reasons too, any medication you are taking, gaseous foods, chewing food too fast makes for air bubbles as well...it could even be a bowel problem...there is many things it could be...check out the listed website i put.or type bloating in a search engine...if it gets any worse or does not stop, I suggest you go to the doctor for some professinal help! Good luck! :)
Eat plenty of fiber and yogurt to clear out your system its likely gas and it has to come out somewhere?

I hope this helps鈥?
I hope one of these answers works, because I have the same problem!

Bleeding Ulcer?!?!?!?

what are the symptoms of a ulcer in a dog?!?!?!?

my dog ate aspirin, about 3 hours ago, and puked yellow stuff after he ate the aspirin, but no blood in it. and he looks well no signs of distress.

will he be okay?? he is a 2 1/2 year chihuahua 8-10lbs.

he at 6 AT THE MOST, so he probably ate 3 to 5 maybe.

i cant call the vet or anything cause its 12 am
Answer:
Call the vet NOW. There are 24hr emergency clinics if your vet is not available. The normal dose of aspirin for a dog that size is 1/4 tablet. The problem will not be bleeding from the stomach. It will be kidney damage or kidney failure. So your pet may appear well now but could still suffer kidney failure. If you pet receives immediate treatment this most likely can be prevented.
See vet. asap.
Usually there are emergency numbers for vets. Usually when you get a checkup or something like that, there is a list of numbers like Sunday numbers or an Emergency number. Try calling 411 or something like that.
He's probably fine. Let him have some milk, or water to drink.

Bladder problem?

I have to go to the bathroom like every 5 min, and its urgent, but when i do go stuff comes out, but not as much as i felt i had to go. What is this? what should i do??
Answer:
Greetings,
In 'stuff' do you mean urine? If there is blood or puss or mucus then you should see a doctor now. The frequency, and urgency sends red flags of a bladder infection~see a doctor.
It could also be a early sign of diabetes~see a doctor.
If left untreated if it is an infection it could infect the kidneys and cause bigger problems, if something else and not treated it could be worse. SO SEE A DOCTOR%26gt;
its probably a urinary tract infection...go see ur doctor and he"ll give u medicine
stop drinking. lol

Bladder irritation?

Lately I've been feeling like my bladder is constantly full, even after I go to the bathroom. I was checked to see if I had a UTI, but the tests came up negative. It doesn't hurt or burn when I urinate, it just always feels like I have to go a little bit. Can someone tell me what might be going on?
Answer:
It sounds like you have interstitial cystitis.
See a urologist. and ask him to check you for this.

http://www.ichelp.org/
maybe drink heaps of water to flush yourself... thats what i do... hope that helps...
If you are a male, you may have a stricture somewhere in the urethera bulbus. Reguardless, a profesional should be helping you. never know when or where a tumor will be. I knew one lady that had bladder cancer. I am sorry to scare ou, but your body is telling you something. Good Luck and hope you are OK.

Bladder infection or something worse?

For the past few days I have had burning sensations when I pee..i already know from past experience of bladder infections that it most obvious is that..but i've been haven tons of discomfort and pain in my lower back area (kidney region) I've also felt tired and can't stand for long periods of time. I was wondering if it could be something more. I am taking AZO for the bladder infection and if it doesnt go away by friday im calling my doctor..anyone with this experience or pain. Thanks
Answer:
you should go to your doctor immediately when you know you have a bladder infection. It's important to get the correct medication into your system as soon as possible. You're feeling tired because your body is fighting a serious infection. It's possible you have something going on in your kidneys. Only your doctor can tell you. I would not wait till Friday.

Drink lots of cranberry juice every day.
tyr drink cranberry juice for a couple of days and if it dosent go away its something worse you should see a doctor
Sounds like a kindey infection. Go see the doctor now!
if u feel like you have to pee but nothing comes out go to the doctor...i hade it in 3rd grade...and its uncomftorable for a guy
It could be chlamidya

Black bump?

i have this small round bump on my hip. it used to be blue then changed to purple. when i went to the doctor she cut a small hole and got some stuff out. it was a tiny black thing with white dots. she said it was probably pencil lead but i don't think it is. i was on antibiotics for about 4 days when the infection disappeared. now it's back but this time it's all black. when i press down on it i feel something inside. should i go to the doctor immediately or just take some medicine? what is it?
Answer:
Go to the doctor. Don't mess with this -- it could be some sort of abscess, and if it gets infected, that could cause trouble.

BIRTHCONTROL help acne?

I have bad acne and I'm a teen ( I got it becuz of irregular periods) Doy you think it would help with my acne ?
And how long will it take for it to be effective with acne and cycles ?
And plz tell me your experience
Answer:
not really, they say that it does...but i have had no luck. try proactiv it works great!
it might make it worse. plus u will probly change ur normal mood and u will be diffrent. if u can help stay away from ti cuz it coudl og either way really bad and make u a diffrent person
certain types of birth control will help with acne. You might have to try more than one before you see improvement. You should see results with your cycle within a couple of months. The acne may take a little longer.

This is from my personal experience. I was put on the birth control as a teen for the same reason as you and I am now 30. So far I have not had any side effects from the pills.

Birth Control Pill question and anxiety...?

26 year old female who suffered a miscarraige in January. Was 10 weeks along. Had been getting progesterone injections weekly from the beginning of pregnancy because levels were low. When miscarriage happened, naturally the injections ended also. From that time I have been sufferering from anxiety and some panic attacks. Something I never experienced before. I was also on the pill right before I got pregnant. My question is, if I were to go back on the pill now do you think it might balance me out more hormonaly? I don't know if it is the hormonal imbalance that is causing the anxiety or what. I was on the pill for years before I became pregnant. BTW, I am going to see my dr. in a few hours but I just wanted some more feedback from the ladies. Thank you!

Big pharma payola to FDA for running interferance of freedom of health care.?

yea, I've posted this several times, but it takes the avg person more than 3 times to make a brain imprint of something, and the avg IQ in the US is 85 SO, here it is again.

The FDA has used subversive tactics to prevent interested parties from petitioning against the codex almintarious by blocking the petition site.. AGAIN!. read up on that here. www.HealthFreedomUSA.org If this kind of political manuevering to keep the American people from speaking out against yet more outrageous and dangerous laws before they are implimented ticks you off. Research, Question, Speak out and be sure to ALWAYS VOTE!. The actual codex document is loaded with legal jabberwocky and difficult to read. But if you study it closely it is a truly frightening piece of unessessary legislation that will wipe out a multi-billion dollar industry completely out

Males grow till there are around 22. My best friend had about an 8" (he was always small ) growth spurt his Sr. Yr. HS. Time has got to pass before U know. Unless Ur mom measured you when you were 2. Best ways to deal with the medical condition known as G.E.R.D?

I have G.E.R.D...a disorder dealing with acid reflux. AFter I eat...I can't even keep my head up because of the indegestion...it's getting really bad...any tips?
Answer:
If you aren't seeking treatment for your GERD, I would suggest you do. Until then, try using Prilosec OTC. You can buy a 14 day supply at Target for just $10. I have issues with acid reflux from time to time, but I just take Pepcid before I eat anything spicy. I have taken Prilosec OTC and it did help. Before that I took a prescription called Aciphex and it worked wonders. I would definitely encourage you to seek medical treatment. Also, if you haven't stopped drinking soda, I would encourage you to stop. Try and stick to water %26 milk. Good luck!
Nexium works wonders. also, if you're overweight, lose it.
try zegerid, I am currently taking it and I am very happy
Tums give immediate relief. Get some and use them until it improves.
Stop drinking caffeine and alcohol.
These both contribute to the symptoms. When you go to the doctor, the handout mentions these, but emphasis is given to using acid inhibiting drugs. (for the rest of your life)
Try to lose weight.
Good luck.

This link will give you some good information on GERD.

Also know, that sometimes GERD can present itself as a heart attack. Either way, if you ever get those symptoms, its best to call 911 because you wont know either way.
Have you seen a doctor yet about your GERD? He should be able to prescribe medicine that will help control the acid reflux. I would give him a call.
Have you tried any medications, either over the counter or prescription? My DH and three DS's all have this problem. The kids are easy to handle, we just make sure to limit activity after meals. My DH on the other hand has had to have two ballooning procedures done on his esophagus due to scar tissue build up from the reflux. He used to take Pepcid AC until a few weeks ago the Dr. had him try Protonix and it's working great.

In the past though, I have noticed that about every three months, his body adjusts to the new medicine and he has to switch again. He's tried all of the popular medications and they all work decently until he adjusts and then it's on to the next one.

Best way to relieve soreness in my arm from pitching?

I got a game tomorrow and i'm pitching again i only had 1 day rest i woke up today and it was sore from pitching yesterday. what the best, fastest way to relieve it?
Answer:
hot shower, ibuprofren and flex all
I would take some tylox, it will relive any pain that you can possibly have
Stretch your shoulder any chance you get. It may hurt when you do it but it will shorten the time you have the pain.
Also incorporate icy-hot and advil.
Just let it rest you probly pulled a muscle so all you can do is wait
If you can get a massage. Ice 20min on 20 off. Ibuprofen. Hot shower or whirl pool before bed. Ice on and off that morning, make sure you are warmed up before you throw.
Let me break it u stupid son of a *itch!

Best way to get sedatives?

im talking things like chlorprazine (sp), valium, xanax etc.

i see a psych that does not believe in meds, i am drinking approx 100 units of week and have a stomach ulcer. i have asked for rehab but was refused.

call me shallow, but id rather get drugs than have 70% of calorie intake come from vodka.

i think for now, drugs is the best way forward.

seriousl replies only please.
Answer:
I think you need off drugs including alcohol. Alcohol abuse causes mental health problems. It actually shrinks the brain. See this link http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/a...
The brain can recover though with abstinence.
Xanax and valium and other prescription sedatives aren't much better and are highly addictive and have long term adverse effects on mental and physical health. See this link http://www.benzo.org.uk/ashbzoc.htm... and also see this link http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/...
By the way I used to think like you. I have had addiction problems to alcohol and prescription sedatives. I abused alcohol but did not abuse sedatives, although I found sedatives to be the hardest to come off of. My addictions brought me to the point of suicide.
I strongly recommend that you seek recovery rather than just dig yourself into a deeper hole by adding in more drugs. The chances are high that more pills will not stop your drinking. but will just get you further into addiction. Xanax and valium and the like stop working after a few weeks or months anyway due to tolerance, so where will you be when they stop working? Just addicted to more pills and back on the drink as well. Chlorpromazine can cause irriversible brain damage. Research tardive dyskinesia. You won't like chlorpromazine anyway as it is like a chemical lobotomy. It is only meant to be used for severe schizophrenia and severe mania. Your doctor sounds good if he doesn't want to just hand out these pills for the sake of handing them out.
It can take months and months to wean yourself off of sedatives, sometimes a year or more as the withdrawal symptoms can be very severe.
Rehab is not the only path to recovery. You can get AA or an alcohol counsellor and detox at home.
This is a serious reply by the way.
Shimmy about, half smile, eyes half closed, all in a degree of near nakedness.

Oh sorry, I thought you said seductive...

Get another head doctor with a free hand in writing prescriptions. loads of them about.
find a different dr. you're paying for the treatment, you shouldnt be being refused anything! you should not be denied rehab for any reason!!
So who wants to help this young lady get into even more difficulties?
I think you are are right but surely counselling would help you to get to the root of your problems. Good luck, I hope you get through it
you really need to find yourself another doctor x x

Best way to get rid of a sore throat?

I've got a date tonight and i woke up this morning with a sore throat. How can I get it to feel a little better before then?

I can't suck on losenges or Halls or anything- they make me sick and i feel worse.

Thanks!
Answer:
Gargle with salt water. 1 cup of water with one teaspoon of salt. If that doesn't appeal to you, try a product called Chloriseptic. It's a throat spray medication for sore throats. Also hot tea with honey soothes a sore throat but the Chloriseptic will probably work the best. Good Luck and Have Fun tonight.
Have you tried Licorice Tea?
drink salt water it always work trust me!!
Gargle with warm salt water.
warm lemon juice with honey, my sore throat's gone in 10 mins :)
try gargling with salt water, and drink lots of water throughout the day.
Try gargling with warm salt water.
use warm salt water but dont drink it just *gargal*sorry
There is a tea called Throat Coat, rock stars drink it all the time. You can get it at most markets. Also, try eating toast or something that could scrape your throat, it might be post nasal drip and scraping it with crunchy food can actually make it feel better!
another way to make you feel sick is gargle salt water...putting salt in a wound
Brandy and honey mixed together. It works a treat. I'm a singer, and thats what I use if I have a sore throat.
gargel some warm salt water..or mouthwash...go to the store and get some COLDFX, best stuff i swear..pop about 5 of them..asap! than finish off with some halls, or throat soothers...this is what i do and it works all the time..good luck on that date!!
Chloraseptic spray seems to work best for me. You can also gargle with hot salt water. If it doesn't go away w/in 3 days, go to the dr for a strep throat test. You may need antibiotics.
Try some tea with some honey in it.

As well you can gargle with salt water. Grab a glass of water and add a teaspoon of table salt... gargle for as long as you can, then spit. It doesnt taste good, but it does help.
drink tea with honey in it. the hot drink combined with honey will make it feel soo much better!

take a hot shower too it surprisingly helps.
pour salt in a glass of warm water. let it desolve then gargle with it.. the salt clears the throat of any infection or bacteria. good luck
Gargle salt water...it helps a little
gargle with luke-warm salt water, works like a charm!
I don't know how quickly you need this to work, but it works for me:
a) Gargle with salt water for about 2 minutes every hour. (it makes a kind of coating on your throat).
b) Suck on a lemon wedge in between times. (The acidity helps to soothe your throat, and breaks up the mucus that's scratching your throat)

It sounds weird, but I sing and when I get a nasty soar throat I do these things and it helps. (Besides, I can't stand those chloroseptic sprays)*
i would say gargle with salt water or something. take some antibiotics because if its serious enough it can lead to Scarlett fever and that's not something to play around with.
My nan and Mum always gave me hot lemonade with honey melted by the lemonade, and when its not too hot for then try and drink it all before it cools down, it works best the hotter the better.

Jimmy from UK
i really think that you should call your doctor cos when i have a sore thoat i normally take vit c but since you said you cant suck anything i think you should see the doctor
simple solution.have strepsils
Eat fresh pineapple or even canned works.
Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. More details and home remedies available at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html...
