I am 43 sooo - aging - I have to admit it.
I currently take a Centrum multi every day and some extra vitamin E.
What would be the best vitamins and supplements for -
1) for my overall health at this stage in life
2) for the condition of my hair, skin and nails - they really need something extra these days
3) to combat the harsh, very very dry, high altitude Colorado climate.
Answer:
Eat a lot of jello. The idea that antioxidant supplements, such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, lipoic acid and N-acetylcysteine, might extend human life stems from the free radical theory of aging.
If I was a woman and got to menopause, I'd go with the estrogen shots and risk the possibility of cancer.
Drink plenty of water for the harsh climate, keeps your skin and body hydrated. Along with the multivitamin, gelatin is very good for your nails, and hail. Try salon grade hair products only on your hair, the cheap stuff just doesn't cut it really, can do more harm than good, spend a few extra bucks for the good stuff.
Protein is good for your nails and hair.
About aging:
Eat a balanced diet. Don't eat just one kind of food. (e.g. Pasta. It tastes like it's from heaven. but we all know it's not good to eat it for every meal of every day.)
Skin.. The best thing is to eat a balanced diet, like I said, and use a moderate amount of lotion. Don't use too much; I ended up in a disaster from that.
I hear Green tea/ green tea vitamins make your hair and skin healthy. Also, fish oil vitamins.
Moisturizer helps the most though, you can get a moisturizer that is fully of nutrients, antioxidants, and minerals that are great for your skin.
Swansons health products. My mother used to use them and now I do. I'm 39 and still look like I'm 28. Get compliments all the time. Try them - they work. . . .Hope it helps. . .
My sister swears by taking prenatal vitamins. I've never really compared the formulas myself. But I can tell you that her hair and nails always look very healthy. By the way...she's 37
