im talking things like chlorprazine (sp), valium, xanax etc.
i see a psych that does not believe in meds, i am drinking approx 100 units of week and have a stomach ulcer. i have asked for rehab but was refused.
call me shallow, but id rather get drugs than have 70% of calorie intake come from vodka.
i think for now, drugs is the best way forward.
seriousl replies only please.
Answer:
I think you need off drugs including alcohol. Alcohol abuse causes mental health problems. It actually shrinks the brain. See this link http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/a...
The brain can recover though with abstinence.
Xanax and valium and other prescription sedatives aren't much better and are highly addictive and have long term adverse effects on mental and physical health. See this link http://www.benzo.org.uk/ashbzoc.htm... and also see this link http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/...
By the way I used to think like you. I have had addiction problems to alcohol and prescription sedatives. I abused alcohol but did not abuse sedatives, although I found sedatives to be the hardest to come off of. My addictions brought me to the point of suicide.
I strongly recommend that you seek recovery rather than just dig yourself into a deeper hole by adding in more drugs. The chances are high that more pills will not stop your drinking. but will just get you further into addiction. Xanax and valium and the like stop working after a few weeks or months anyway due to tolerance, so where will you be when they stop working? Just addicted to more pills and back on the drink as well. Chlorpromazine can cause irriversible brain damage. Research tardive dyskinesia. You won't like chlorpromazine anyway as it is like a chemical lobotomy. It is only meant to be used for severe schizophrenia and severe mania. Your doctor sounds good if he doesn't want to just hand out these pills for the sake of handing them out.
It can take months and months to wean yourself off of sedatives, sometimes a year or more as the withdrawal symptoms can be very severe.
Rehab is not the only path to recovery. You can get AA or an alcohol counsellor and detox at home.
This is a serious reply by the way.
Shimmy about, half smile, eyes half closed, all in a degree of near nakedness.
Oh sorry, I thought you said seductive...
Get another head doctor with a free hand in writing prescriptions. loads of them about.
find a different dr. you're paying for the treatment, you shouldnt be being refused anything! you should not be denied rehab for any reason!!
So who wants to help this young lady get into even more difficulties?
I think you are are right but surely counselling would help you to get to the root of your problems. Good luck, I hope you get through it
you really need to find yourself another doctor x x
